As a child, Jesus manifested a peculiar loveliness of disposition.

His willing hands were ever ready to serve others.

He manifested a patience that nothing could disturb,

and a truthfulness that would never sacrifice integrity.

In principle firm as a rock,

His life revealed the grace of unselfish courtesy. {DA 68.3}

humility is not to be confused for an empty vessel. humility does not parade its knowledge but rather sits at the feet of Jesus, never arriving, ever learning.

our Father,

heal our minds and our hearts from looking for comfort, healing and/or numbing from

drinkin'
druggin'
smoking
eating
pride
tv
or whatever it is we do

but show us how to find love, self-worth, value

in You alone.

I'd like to "second" what Teresa said.

What hope do we have unless God is really as Jesus testified him to be? God in the flesh - wow! Washing feet, healing the blind, feeding the hungry, resurrecting the physical - and more importantly - the spiritual dead.

There is no other god that would condescend to his lowly *subjects* yet, Jesus not only condescended, he lifted us on high proclaiming neither Jew nor Gentile, all equal before God.

That's good news!

Thanks for starting a meaningful thread, Teresa, it really is all about Jesus and Jesus only.

i would be interested to see how others understand these two sets of sentences.

first one:
He manifested a patience that nothing could disturb,

and a truthfulness that would never sacrifice integrity.

second one:
In principle firm as a rock,

His life revealed the grace of unselfish courtesy. {DA 68.3}

sentence 1a seems pretty easy to understand (but difficult to want to do, when push comes to shove)

what about 1b?

sentence 2a and b are more difficult to visualize.
