Falling Short

We have all fallen short of the glory of God; we have all failed our loved ones; we have all failed ourselves. It’s not easy to pick up the pieces, but there is good news. God will take all the pieces and turn them into a beautiful tapestry—if we are faithful to wait on him. That’s the hard part. Living in the fiery furnace every day as a result of the backwash of our sin is never easy.
But the cross wasn’t easy for Jesus. In the fire we lose a part of ourselves that should have been burned away long ago. In the fire we experience pain, hopelessness, rejection, shame, fear and loneliness. But God will take each of these strong emotions and turn them into a new life where compassion, love, grace, faith, and hope take on new meaning if we wait on him...
Waves of grief
My flag half-mast.
Happiness is now
A thing of the past.
Time goes slowly
I wait for relief.
But the knife has cut
And its wound goes deep.
Can hope coexist
With hopelessness?
Can victory come
When I flunked the test?
Can dreams be seen
In the darkest night?
Can love appear
When only clouds are in sight?
God will change
The wrong into right.
He’ll change my weakness
Into his might.
My tears he’ll change
Into living water.
He purifies
When the fire is hotter.
Wonders will appear
From my passionate prayer.
New life springs forth
From the cross we share.
When all seemed lost
I was found
By my beautiful Savior
In my wedding gown.
