Priceless for Sale?

sleeping_20baby.jpgSan Diego officials are investigating an internet ad that offers a baby boy - for free. It could be a hoax but then again, maybe not. Even if it were a hoax, how sad to think someone would first think up such a sordid joke, gather up the angst to place the ad and then sit back to watch for takers? Click here for article.

This recent news story points us toward a stark reality - our increasing inability to bond with others be it child, spouse, sibling, parent, or friend. The world is desperate for love! Perhaps you were a child that was rejected by your parents, a child who yearned to be held and nurtured and given all the things a child needs and deserves. Though our mothers and fathers forsake us, we can take heart in our Heavenly Father who says, "Can a woman forget her nursing child And have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; " Isaiah 49:15

The statement was made:

God has been portrayed as distant, severe, and even cruel .

Yes, it is thus portrayed in the Hebrew Scriptures. How can you ignore this portrayal of God as the writers described?

According to a later news source, this was an ad run by the father in a custody dispute, attempting to prove the mother was unfit.

Pensacola, Fla. A father embroiled in a custody dispute posted a phony ad on the internet offering to give away his 5-year-old boy to make his wife look bad, investigators said Wednesday.

The ad, written as if it were placed by the mother, listed the boy as "free to a good home" on pupular Craigslist.org. web site.

"Ive had him now for five years. I've somewhat abused him, but I cannot control myself or him," the ad read. "I have mental problems."

Raymond Lawrence Lee, 50, of El Cajoh, Calif., told detectives he was upset with the child's mother when he placed the ad the day after Thanksgiving, said Mike Ward, a spokesman for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.
