A New Creation

Dr. Rosen, a plastic surgeon from Dartmouth Medical Center has been quoted saying, ""Human wings will be here. Mark my words." Rosen also has been quoted asking, "Why do we only value the average? Why are plastic surgeons dedicated only to restoring our current notions of the conventional, as opposed to letting people explore, if they want, the possibilities?" He says it is only our "Judaeo-Christian conservatism" that is holding us back." What do you think? Is he on target? I mean, we do have a nation full of men and women who are unhappy with the way they look so if having your rib adjusted and grafted with new skin from your hip to create fleshy, flappy "wings" makes you feel better - why not, right? Hmmm. A friend and I had a lively discussion surrounding this controversial procedure and you probably will too after reading the rest of the article hereWere people any different thousands of years ago? Was there anyone in the Bible who suffered from poor self-image? David cried out in Psalm 22:6, "But I am merely a worm, far less than human, and I am hated and rejected by people everywhere." I've heard some say we ought to use this as our measure in evaluating ourselves and that taking this self-loathing posture is actually healthy behavior for a mature Christian. Job called a curse on the day he was born,"Blot out the day of my birth and the night when my parents created a son." Is this sort of self-view indicative of a heart that has been created anew by God, or not? Further study beginning with these two verses will promise some astounding eye-openers, including the one we at Hs.com are always talking about - God's desire to open you up to the truth about Him. If you desire wings or not, God loves you just the way you are. He says in Isaiah, "I am the Lord your God. I am the Holy One of Israel. I am the one who saves you. I will give up Egypt to set you free. I will give up Cush and Seba for you. You are priceless to me. I love you and honor you."
