Ark Proves God Exists?

ark.jpgIf it is true that a Christian archaeology team has discovered Noah's Ark in Iran, is this good news? Depends on your picture of God. If you know Him to be the kind of god who will drown or burn you if you disobey Him, then no, it would be horrible news only reaffirming your suspicions. If you want to prove to the world's unbelievers they were wrong and you are the winner afterall, well, you will find this news not just good but thrilling.

ABC News reports, "Throughout history, people have been searching for the Ark to help prove God's existence."  Bruce Feiler, author of "Where God Was Born," says, "There's this idea, if we can prove that the ark existed then we can prove that the story existed, and more importantly, we can prove that God existed."

I think the world asks a bigger question than, "Does God exist?" rather, it is more concerned with, "What's He like?"

There's been so many stories of Noah's Ark having been found.... I've seen all sorts of documentaries on it. All I can say is, I'll believe it when I see it. There's been so many stories of sightings of it that unless these people provide at least pictures and at best some carbon dating results, it's simply not worth anyone's attention.

Stacie,
Are you saying then that God didn't specifically send a flood to destroy all the wicked on the earth at that time? I think this is a picture of the final destruction of the wicked but this time it will be in the lake of fire that will purify the earth, and usher in a "new heavens, and a new earth".

God has to deal with wickedness in a just manner, so because those people drowned in the flood, does that make Him a cruel God?

Thanks for another thought provoking article.

Stacie,

I guess I am not understanding you. Are you saying the Genesis flood did not happen and God did not destroy the wicked in that flood?

I guess also God didn't burn the wicked in Sodom and Gomorrah? Is that story a myth?

If your answer is true, then I am having a hard time with your understanding of what the Bible says is true.

I would like to pursue this conversation with you on the "fire" thread, so I will repost this there.

think the world asks a bigger question than, "Does God exist?" rather, it is more concerned with, "What's He like?" I unfortunately don't think this is quite accurate wish it was.It seems to me that people want to know God exists first then they can worry(or not)about what kind of person God is.It may be an unconscious thought, what is God like, but i find most people would go Uh?what kind of question is that?preconcieved notions, probably. critr
