Is The Sky Really Falling?

If you are inclined to share your faith in God with someone who will give you a moment to whip out your bible and prove to them that Jesus is coming soon - what propels your motive? Some of us think it is our duty to warn the world that the Lord is coming back but such a message can fall flat and be written off as the annoying chicken-little mentality. Why on earth would such triumphant news not be taken seriously? Could it be that all too often the truth about God becomes a huge red flag of dread? Of warning? As if we are in for "it" and better straighten up or else all hellfire and flooding waters will consume us.
For the record, fear and alarm don't fair well when dedicated to motivate and inspire or elevate the human mind. What does stir the human heart to acceptance of such an awesome God is to share that He is already here and very real and very much involved in our day-to-day activities. He says Himself He will never leave us, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Before you jump the gun, I am not suggesting that there is not some literal future event that involves God reappearing - I'm just not so sure if we aren't putting the cart before the horse. Doesn't it make sense that knowing and trusting who is coming to dinner, will have a great bearing on whether or not you open your front door?
Is it possible that all Christians everywhere could unite and share the truth about our God's character that removes all fear and distrust? Is it possible that the warning could be transformed into a resplendant heralding of something so magnificent that souls everywhere beg to see Him again? Beg to go home? Oh, my prayer is a resounding "yes!"
Maybe you are not a chicken-little devotee and I am pretty sure that most Christians are not - but for those who are, please, take a deep searching look at how it might sound to a drug addict or prostitute that Jesus is "even at the door. " You will find the air suddenly sucked from the room and your "mission" project running so fast you won't see anything but a blur. Until the contorted picture of God is repaired and the truth about Him is revealed, the message that "Jesus is coming soon" will either remain as one that perpetuates fear and anxiety or it will be disregarded as fanatical myth. As Christians we are God's hands - His feet and His tongue and these God-given blessings are our tools to remove all fear, doubt and anxiety. Here. Now. This moment.
What are we waiting for?
