Your Command Center

"During WWII Winston Churchill, prime minister of Great Britain, and his advisors had a command center under London that contained 200 rooms protected by a 15-foot concrete roof, which was reinforced with steel rails." --The World of Caves, Mines, and Tunnels. What is your command center reinforced with? By command center I mean your mind. ...
Are you easily swayed by what the media tells you and do you measure your worth by pop culture? Or are you searching for life's most coveted answers within the pages of it's most sacred moments? We needn't desire with all our being to know the truth, all truth requires is an interest, even an interest born from the wrong reasons.
I have been reading in Deutoronomy for my personal worship and have been delighted to hear God's voice speaking to me. Like the children of Israel needed to experience hunger and thirst in order to develop discipline and sharpen their discernment, I too need to wander in the desert a while feeling a parched palatte and pit in my stomach to really understand what I am made of. Truth is hard to see when the spectator is sitting in a comfort zone.
When the Israelites decided to hand over truth for lies, other nations came in and took the Israelites rightful property, figuratively and literally-physical land and their heirship as sons and daughters of the Living God. God commanded the Hebrew nation to go back and claim their property and their position and to begin by breaking down the heathen's altars, smashing their sacred stones, and cutting down their Asherah poles (Deut. 7:5) Are not these literal objects of idolatry symbolic of that which plagues the human mind like cherished anger, resentment, hate and guilt? Friends, God is calling us to "drive out" the "evil nations" that desire to steal our peace, our right to life, our heirship to the most awesome privilege ever-sharing the law of love and liberty! He is calling us out of "Egypt," the bondage of discouragement, negative self-talk and criticism.
But how do we do this? I mean really, what is the most practical way to overcome our shortcomings and achieve success in all aspects of human life? How do we find joy in the midst of poverty and pain? If my bills are not paid and I have no babysitter for my children do I really need a bible study? I believe that God is a practical God who desires nothing more than for us to realize our potential and the infinite range of possibilities that lay at our feet just waiting to be picked up. Therefore, He has provided strategies for every individual, tailor-made for each precious mind to comprehend and apply in order for a beneficial result.
Where to begin right? May I suggest you begin by getting real with yourself and examine your life, every last detail. Are you who you want to be? Is your life as you imagined? Now, after you are totally finished raking yourself over the coals for not going to school, not working harder, not listening to wise advice, being a victim to a spouse or partner, racking up credit card bills blah blah blah, begin making plans to change your reality. You want practical? Get a pen and paper and write down what you want, in detail and then contact individuals or institutions that will assist you in completing your goals. I can't ge any mor practical then that.
On a spiritual note, if you do believe in God-consult Him. Talk with Him and tell Him your concerns and ask Him to guide you. He won't let you down- I promise. I've found that most of the time, if not all of the time, we think there is just one door of oppurtunity when in fact there are many. The only thing God asks of us is to pick one. He will be with us no matter what direction we choose to follow, even if it is a dead-end. If our heart and motive is pure then even the wrong doors will be elements that aide in our transformation from a weakling to a robust and healthy human being. I have found that the more I focus on Him, and less on me, the world has a way of opening itself up as a bud does to the sun. The oppurtunity to achieve your dreams is not obscure unless you choose to not see it.
God bless you in your journey toward peace and love.
