What Does God Look Like?

good_look_like.gif
God. What does He look like? Does He have hair like me? Skin and bones and muscles like me? Does He smile and weep like me? Does He have knee-caps and elbows and a belly-button? Fingerprints? DNA?

John describes the Creator in Revelation 1 as a Being dressed in a long robe, white hair, blazing eyes, feet like bronze and a voice that sounded like rushing waters...wow! Incredible! Awesome!  Maybe John was hallucinating or maybe he was just really exploring his own creative brain-flow. Perhaps what he saw was meant to be taken at face value, I'm not sure.   I am sure of this much though, God could end up looking like something off X-Files or Battle Star Gallactica and it wouldn't change who He was on the "inside" which is in my opinion pure and glorious love and liberty.  It is these very principles that weave the "framework" of God that I'm in love with and it is all I "see."

How about you? What do you "see"?

To start off, I'd like to say that I do not believe that anything was designed in the Universe. It always was, but it always was in a natural state, not something intended for life to exist (take all those lifeless planets and solar systems out there, for instance). To me, Earth just happens to be able to support life because of its position from the Sun, and thus it was inevitable for life to appear here.

Also I'd like to say that I believe in both abiogenesis and, more importantly for this topic, evolution. I also think that the Universe is really, really large. Larger than any of us can imagine. Infinte? No idea. But anyway, look us, look at how smart we are, what we've accomplished, our various technologies. Nuclear bombs, phones, electricty. We've came up with a lot of useful and powerful stuff. Now imagine the large size of the Universe and how many other Earths there are out there and how many of them probably support intelligent life like ours. Then think of the future: Where will we be in 1000 years? I think that, in the future, they'll combine mechanics and biology to make "super-humans", specifically designed to make life easier. We won't need to wear glasses anymore to block out the brightness of the Sun, a black dot will simply appear in our vision that will cover it up. Ect., ect., you get the point. Then let's say we evolve farther than that, and then farther... What do we become? Gods.

Considering the size of the Universe, the number of Earths out there, the number of them that support intelligent life and the number of them that have "advanced" intelligent life ("super-humans"), I can only conclude that there's a few "gods" out there..... Not that many given an area of "space" in the Universe, but I'm sure there's some.

Appearance? I would think they're as large as needed. It depends on what they're made of. If they HAVE TO be a certain size to perform a certain function, like see, (at least larger than a photon... millions of questions there..... ), to hear, ect. What do they look like? That all depends on how much vanity they have. Are they very emotional? Emotions are actually a good survival mechanism, and that's why we have them. They make us VERY afraid at the slightest hint of danger, and VERY enthusastic at anything that benefits our well being or our desires, so that we'll reach out and grab it. Emotions are positive, too, they make us feel good. So many God would have some kind of "vain" appearance, slightly. Whatever his own past kind deemed perfect regarding appearance. Actually, if his ancestors were humans, those he had evolved from, he would probably prefer looking like a really good looking......male or female, depending on what he originally was (unless he was created in a lab). His appearance really depends on 1) god's preferences for his appeance and what 2) he as a machine/organism would look like with only the necessary equiptment and organs.

Well I have to get to work *right now*...... I have more thoughts but I gotta go....... that's what I have so far.... I'll elaborate some more when I get back.
