Miracles?

Just in two hours ago:

Thousands head to Texas to witness a portrait of Jesus with "tears" streaming down His face.

The Bible is full of miracles and so it leads one to ask "Does God still use miracles to reach people?" There is a true story of a man in the Philippines who was given a copy of the 'The Great Controversy' and spent his afternoons reading it in his backyard. Every time he began reading, a white dove would circle over the man's head. He ran to tell his neighbors who didn't believe him until they saw it for themselves.

Eventually many of the village people decided that the book must be special so they all began reading it and many became baptized as a result.

How do we know what to believe? Can't The Devil perform miracles, too? And won't we be seeing more and more of this as time goes by? What would YOU do if you neighbor came to you and beckoned you to come see her Virgin Mary painting weeping?

Didn't Christ say "a wicked and perverse people ask for miracles"? Comments?

I recently had a conversation with a friend about God's miracles in the OT. He said that from the hand of God writing on tables of stone to the parting of Red Sea, this was proof that God was much closer to Israel than to the people of today.

I'd like to share part of our discussion. First off we need to ask ourselves what kind of person or nation needs miracles? Think of Israel after her exile in Egypt, she was basically a spoiled & rebellious child. Spoiled and rebellious children won't often respond to a whisper or the usual mode of communication because their calloused minds cannot hear and their darkened eyes cannot see.
They were spiritually immature thus they needed miracles of sorts, something out of the ordinary. Also, keep in mind that within the walls of culture where Israel presided, it wasn't strange to expect power and might from your local deity. Satan was busy feeding this lie back then as he is today.

When God called them out, it wasn't to yell at them in the desert but rather to go through a training at the feet of Master who longed to not only set them physically free, but also spiritually. Israel's need of the truth about God's charachter was as dire as it for us today. Had they remembered their God and had His true charachter remained intact in their minds, they wouldn't have NEEDED one single miracle.

What I'd like to do is explore what miracles really are because it is my belief that anything out of the ordinary is a miracle....TO US. For God to part the Red Sea, make the blind see and the lame walk is just another usual day in His dimension.

Do you NEED miracles to trust God or has He sold you on the truth about His trustworthiness to the point where you don't need drastic measures to hear Him? And do you need to see "Virgin Mary" statues crying to be impressed? If you
can't find the answer then I'd like to challenge you today to look for it.
